But I bet if you ask any professional calligrapher… there’s only a few that they use on a daily basis.
These tools are the workhorses. The ones that really matter. So I thought I’d show you mine.

Here’s a summary of what’s inside my Toolkit!
1. ARTBIN STORAGE BOX
This is an Artbin Solutions Box in the Medium Size. It comes with thin plastic dividers so you can really customize your storage - create as many long rectangular or small square cubbies as you want!
2. INKS
BLACK: Sumi Ink
WHITE: Dr Ph Martins Bleedproof White
COLORFUL: Gouache (here’s a video tutorial on how to mix this into ink!)
METALLIC: Dr Ph Martins Irridescent (here’s a blog post on how I mix these into custom colors)
3. NIBS & NIB HOLDERS
NIBS: Nikko G, Blue Pumpkin, Brause EF66, Hunt 101, Leonardt Hiro 41
HOLDERS: Various adjustable* and adjusted oblique holders
*Note: Adjustable oblique holders can be adjusted to hold many different sizes of nibs. Adjusted oblique holders can only hold the one size of nib that they have been specifically adjusted for.
4. TOOLS FOR SKETCHING
ERASERS: Clic Eraser, soft plastic eraser, kneaded eraser
SAND ERASER: More abrasive, to gently rub away small ink mistakes
PENCILS: Mechanical pencil and White Mechanical Pencil (originally made to be used on fabric!)
